Residential Architecture · 2026
A house that turns its back to the heat and opens to the garden.
Casa Horizonte is a 420 m² single-storey family house on a long, narrow plot. The clients asked for a home that would stay cool without relying on air conditioning, with every room connected to the garden.

Challenge
The plot faces west, which means intense afternoon sun on the main facade for most of the year. Neighbouring buildings also limit views and breezes on two sides.
Approach
We placed a solid stone wall on the west side and opened the house to an internal garden. A deep timber roof shades the glazing, and high windows draw hot air out through the ceiling.
Result
Indoor temperatures stay six degrees below the outside peak on summer afternoons. The family uses the garden veranda as the main living room for most of the year.
